I am a Professor of Gender, Social Change and Development and this is an extremely backward and retrograde step. It suggests a fear of knowledge that could bring greater equality and social justice to society.
Gender analysis also assists us to understand aspects of our lives that are complex but determine so much of how and why we behave as we do.
Its reach should actually be expanded not reduced.

I think abolishment of an established branch of knowledge is not a solusion. If there are issues that can be discussed and modified .

The teaching and learning of gender is important for promoting gender equality and social justice. The proposed abolition of the Gender Studies Program is an infringement on the academic freedom of the University and our freedom to pursue knowledge!

Gender Studies provides economic analysis of the economy and underpins social sciences and humanities for a modern progressive economy.
Governments should not interfere with academic freedoms to study.

Gender is a fundamental dimension of social organization: there can be no reliable sociology nor science based on ignorance of gender dynamics.
