Petition zur sofortigen Nachbesetzung der Professur von Peter Kuon und zur langfristigen Sicherung der Eigenständigkeit und des Weiterbestehens des Fachbereichs Romanistik an der Universität Salzburg

Die romanischen Sprachen sind als Studienfächer gerade für die Universität Salzburg mit ihren international bekannten Stärken und guten Ruf in Geistes- und Kulturwissenschaften unverzichtbar.

In den vergangenen Jahren hat Professor Kuon mit seiner Lehre in den französischen und italienischen Literatur- und Kulturwissenschaften eine Vielzahl an Studierenden motiviert und ihre Begeisterung für den Gegenstand entfacht. Außerdem hat er seit 1995 den Fachbereich auf seinem Gebiet national und international ausgezeichnet vernetzt, was den Studierenden, dem Fachbereich und der Universität Salzburg zugutekam.

Das Rektorat der Universität Salzburg plant die Vollprofessur von Peter Kuon am Fachbereich Romanistik nicht sofort nachzubesetzen, sondern frühestens nach 5 Jahren! 

Die Lücke, die Herr Professor Kuon hinterlassen wird, wird ohnehin schwer zu füllen sein. Eine dermaßen lange Verwaisung der Stelle hat jedoch langfristige Folgen, nicht nur für die Studierenden, sondern auch für den Fachbereich und die gesamte Universität. Nur eine starke Romanistik mit forschungsgeleiteter Lehre – und dafür ist eine volle Professur von essentieller Bedeutung – wird imstande sein, Studierende zu begeistern und den Bedarf an Romanisten*innen sowie Lehrpersonen romanischer Fächer auch langfristig zu decken. Der Verzicht auf die Professur wird nicht nur die Qualität des Fachbereichs und der Universität, sondern vor allem auch die Kooperation mit anderen Universitäten höchst negativ beeinflussen.

Erschwerend zu der Problematik der verwaisten Professur kommt die drohende vom Rektorat geplante Fusionierung unseres Fachbereichs Romanistik mit anderen Fachbereichen hinzu. Diese Veränderung kann auch im Zusammenhang mit der ausbleibenden Nachbesetzung zu einer Schwächung des Fachbereichs führen. Wir wollen uns deshalb mit aller Entschiedenheit gegen diese Pläne stellen! Diese Position nehmen wir ein, da wir für individuelle, fachspezifische Betreuung, für eine starke nationale und internationale Positionierung des Fachbereichs und für die Eigenständigkeit von Lehre und Forschung der Romanistik sind. 

Um den Studierenden die bestmögliche Ausbildung an der Romanistik zu bieten und den guten Ruf der Universität Salzburg zu wahren, fordern wir als Studienvertretung das Rektorat, den Senat, sowie den Universitätsrat dazu auf, die Professur von Herrn Kuon am Fachbereich Romanistik sofort nachzubesetzen und sich gegen die Fusionierung vom Fachbereich Romanistik mit weiteren Fachbereichen auszusprechen.

For the immediate replacement of the professorship of Peter Kuon and the long-term protection of the independence and continued existence of the Department of Romance Studies at the University of Salzburg   

The Romance languages are indispensable as part of the study programmes offered by the University of Salzburg, given its internationally known strengths and its excellent reputation in the humanities and cultural sciences.

In past years, Professor Kuon's professorship in French and Italian Literature and Cultural Studies has had a significant and lasting impact on many students. Moreover, since starting his tenure in 1995, he has established strong national and international research networks in his field, which has benefited the students, the faculty, and the University of Salzburg as a whole. 

The Rectorate of the University of Salzburg is currently planning to leave vacant the full professorship of Italian and French Literature for as long as five whole years following the retirement of its current holder in 2021! 

The absence of professor Kuon impacts the department greatly. This five-year transitional period will furthermore cause severe long-term consequences, not only for the students but also for the department and the university. Upholding international standards is de rigueur for the preservation of the department. Without a replacement, this will not be possible. Only a strong Romance Studies Department with research-based teaching - and maintaining a full professorship in French and Italian Literature and Culture is essential for this - will be able to cater to the needs of students, faculty and teaching staff alike of Romance languages and literature in the long run. Putting the professorship on hold will not only irreparably damage the department itself but also the entire university and, last but not least, the numerous international cooperations with other universities. 

As a further complication to the problem regarding the essential, possibly abandoned, professorship, is the threatening fusion of our currently independent Romance Studies Department with another one. These plans can be seen as indicators for the future of the department. We strongly oppose these intentions! We are for individualized, subject-based support of students, for a strong national and international positioning of the department, and for independence in teaching and research.

In order to guarantee students the best possible education in Romance Studies and uphold the excellent reputation of the University of Salzburg, we, the Student Body Representatives, call upon the Rectorate, the Senate, and the University Council to secure the seamless filling of the vacant professorship after professor Kuon's retirement at the Department of Romance Studies and to speak out against the fusion of the Romance Studies Department with other departments.

Per la immediata successione alla cattedra del Prof. Peter Kuon e per la preservazione dell’Istituto di Romanistica come istituzione indipendente e operativa dell’Università di Salisburgo.

Le lingue romanze sono discipline di studio indispensabili, tanto più per l’Università di Salisburgo, con i suoi punti di forza riconosciuti a livello internazionale e la sua buona reputazione nelle scienze umanistiche e culturali.

Negli ultimi anni, l’insegnamento del professor Peter Kuon nell’ambito della letteratura e cultura francese e italiana ha motivato un gran numero di studenti e acceso il loro entusiasmo per la materia. Inoltre, dal 1995, è riuscito a creare eccellenti reti nazionali e internazionali nel suo campo, a beneficio degli studenti, della facoltà e dell’Università di Salisburgo.

Il Rettorato dell’Università di Salisburgo prevede di ricoprire la cattedra di Peter Kuon presso il Dipartimento di Romanistica non immediatamente, ma al più presto dopo cinque anni dal suo pensionamento. 

Il vuoto che il professor Kuon lascerà dietro di sé sarà comunque difficile da colmare. Tuttavia, una tale prolungata vacanza di cattedra avrà conseguenze non solo per gli studenti, ma anche per il dipartimento e per l’intera università. Solo un forte Dipartimento di Romanistica con un insegnamento diretto dalla ricerca – e l’unica cattedra di letteratura e cultura italiana e francese ne è il perno – sarà in grado di motivare gli studenti e di rispondere a lungo termine alla domanda sociale di esperti in culture romaniche e di insegnanti di lingue romanze. La rinuncia anche solo temporanea alla cattedra avrà un impatto altamente negativo, non solo sulla qualità del Dipartimento e dell'Università, ma anche sulla collaborazione con altre università.

Il problema della cattedra vacante è ulteriormente aggravato dalla minaccia di fondere il nostro Dipartimento di Romanistica con altri dipartimenti. Questa innovazione prevista dal Rettorato porterà, in combinazione con il blocco della cattedra, a un indebolimento del Dipartimento. Vogliamo quindi prendere una decisa posizione contro questi piani! Ci opponiamo perché siamo a favore di un accompagnamento individuale – nonché specifico per ogni disciplina – degli studenti, di un forte posizionamento nazionale e internazionale del Dipartimento e della sua autonomia tanto dal punto di vista dell’insegnamento delle lingue e culture romanze quanto da quello della ricerca.

Per offrire agli studenti la migliore formazione possibile nelle lingue e culture romanze e per mantenere la buona reputazione dell’Università di Salisburgo, noi, in qualità di rappresentanti degli studenti, chiediamo al Rettorato, al Senato e al Consiglio dell’Università di ricoprire senza indugio la cattedra del professor Kuon e di recedere dalla fusione del Dipartimento di Romanistica con altri dipartimenti.

Pour le pourvoi immédiat de la chaire du professeur Peter Kuon et pour le maintien du Département d’Études romanes en tant qu’institution indépendante et pérenne de l’Université de Salzbourg.

Les langues romanes sont des disciplines d’études indispensables, d'autant plus pour l’Université de Salzbourg dont les atouts sont reconnus au niveau international et qui jouit d'une bonne réputation dans le domaine des Sciences humaines et culturelles.

Pendant des années, l’enseignement de la littérature et de la culture françaises et italiennes par le professeur Peter Kuon a motivé un grand nombre d’étudiants et a suscité leur enthousiasme pour cette matière. En outre, depuis 1995, il a réussi à créer d’excellents réseaux nationaux et internationaux dans son domaine au profit des étudiants, de la faculté et de l’Université de Salzbourg.

Le Rectorat de l’Université de Salzbourg prévoit de ne pas pourvoir la chaire vacante de Peter Kuon pendant au moins cinq ans après son départ à la retraite.  

Le vide que le professeur Kuon laissera derrière lui sera dans tous les cas difficile à combler. Toutefois, un non-remplacement de la chaire qu’il occupe aura des conséquences non seulement pour les étudiants, mais aussi pour le département et l’université dans son ensemble. Seul un Département d’Études romanes fort qui offre un enseignement axé sur la recherche - et dont l’unique chaire de littérature et de culture italiennes et françaises est de première importance - pourra motiver les étudiants et couvrir à long terme la demande d’experts en cultures romanes et de professeurs de langues romanes. Même une renonciation temporaire à la chaire aura un impact très négatif, non seulement sur la qualité du Département et de l’Université, mais aussi sur la collaboration avec d’autres universités.

Le problème de la vacance prolongée de la chaire est encore aggravé par la menace de faire fusionner notre Département d’Études romanes avec d’autres départements. Cette mesure prévue par le Rectorat conduira, en combinaison avec le blocage de la chaire, à une perte d’influence du Département. Nous voulons donc nous opposer fermement à ces projets ! Nous nous y opposons parce que nous sommes en faveur d’un suivi individuel - ainsi que spécifique à la discipline - pour les étudiants, d’un positionnement national et international fort du Département ainsi que de son autonomie, tant sur le plan de l’enseignement des langues et cultures romanes que sur celui de la recherche.

Afin d'offrir aux étudiants la meilleure formation possible en langues et cultures romanes et de maintenir la bonne réputation de l’Université de Salzbourg, nous, en tant que représentants des étudiants, demandons au Rectorat, au Sénat et au Conseil de l’Université de pourvoir sans délai la chaire du professeur Kuon et d’abandonner l’idée de fusion du Département d’Études romanes avec d’autres départements.

Para la sucesión inmediata de la cátedra del Prof. Peter Kuon y para la protección y conservación del Departamento de lenguas y literaturas románicas como institución independiente y operativa de la Universidad de Salzburgo. L

Las lenguas romances son disciplinas de estudio indispensable para la Universidad de Salzburgo en virtud de sus logros reconocidos internacionalmente y la buena reputación que ha ganado en el campo de las ciencias humanas y de los estudios culturales.

El trabajo realizado en los últimos años por el prof. Peter Kuon en la enseñanza de las literaturas y culturas francesa e italiana ha influenciado de manera positiva a un gran número de estudiantes, cuyo entusiasmo en estas materias ha sido siempre fomentado. Además, desde 1995 el prof. Kuon ha logrado establecer importantes redes de investigación a nivel nacional e internacional, beneficiando así a sus estudiantes, a la facultad y a la Universidad de Salzburgo.

El rectorado de la Universidad de Salzburgo está planeando actualmente dejar vacante la cátedra del prof. Kuon al menos por cinco años posteriores a su jubilación en el año 2021.

Indudablemente, no será fácil cubrir el vacío que dejará el profesor Kuon. Sin embargo, una prolongada vacancia de la cátedra traería graves consecuencias a largo plazo, no solo para los estudiantes, sino también para el Departamento y toda la Universidad de Salzburgo. Solo un Departamento de lenguas y literaturas románicas que ofrece una enseñanza dirigida a la investigación –  y para la que esta cátedra es de esencial importancia, pues es la única enfocada en las literaturas y culturas italiana y francesa  – tendrá la posibilidad de motivar a los estudiantes y cubrir de manera permanente la demanda de expertos en culturas románicas y de profesores de lenguas romances. El abandono temporal de la cátedra tendría un impacto negativo no solo sobre la calidad educativa del Departamento y de la Universidad, sino también sobre la colaboración que se ha venido forjando con otras universidades.

La posible vacancia de esta cátedra se complica aún más con el amenazante plan del rectorado de fusionar nuestro Departamento de lenguas y literaturas románicas con otro. La realización de esta medida conducirá, en combinación con el bloqueo de la ocupación de la cátedra, a un debilitamiento del Departamento.

Por tales razones queremos expresar nuestra firme oposición a estos proyectos. Tomamos esta postura, porque estamos a favor de una asesoría individualizada de los estudiantes, correspondiente a cada una de las disciplinas, así como de un férreo posicionamiento del Departamento a nivel nacional e internacional y de su autonomía en relación con la enseñanza y la investigación de las lenguas y literaturas románicas.

Para ofrecer a los estudiantes la mejor formación educativa posible en las lenguas y culturas romances y para mantener la buena reputación de la Universidad de Salzburgo, exigimos al rectorado, al senado y al consejo universitario, en calidad de representantes de los estudiantes, asegurar la ocupación sin dilación de la cátedra del profesor Kuon y desistir del plan de fusión del Departamento de lenguas y literaturas románicas con otro.
